GUIDE: Troubleshooting Control4 Driver Auto Updates
Control4 driver auto-updates rely on the Chowmain Agent being installed and running within the Control4 project. The agent manages update communication between your Control4 system and the Chowmainsoft Marketplace servers.
If the agent is not installed or setup correctly, driver updates will not occur automatically. To resolve this:
- Confirm the Chowmain Agent is installed in your project and a valid project code set.

- Ensure that "Automatic Updates" is set in the driver properties
- Driver Cloud Status must say "CM: XXXXX". If it does not say CM: you are using an old version (generally 20240805 or earlier) which predates Chowmain Marketplace. Update manually using the Zip download from our website, and use our Migration Guide if the existing driver was not purchased on Chowmain Marketplace.
- Run Display Diagnostics
- Ensure that driver filename has not be incorrectly renamed on Controller. Drivers which have been renamed to an incorrect filename before installation on Controller cannot be auto-updated and are not supported by Chowmain
- Ensure that Licencing is working correctly in Chowmain Agent
- Ensure that the latest version of Chowmain Agent is installed.
- Auto Updates can take 24-48 hours to be pushed to controller. To initiate the process quicker, use the Refresh Licences action in Chowmain Agent
