Control4 TP-Link: Logs Show Unable to fetch device info: -1. Unable to control device
Problem Description
In some cases (in particular the KP303), it may be detected during autosetup, the KLAP device is added and the device says Connected Successfully. However, the properties say unknown, and when logs are set to print, and DEBUG Level, the following log errors are shown:
- [17:34:46 4071] COMMS_MANAGER: Polling
- [17:34:46 4071] COMMS_MANAGER: Unable to fetch child device list: -1
- [17:34:46 4071] COMMS_MANAGER: Unable to fetch device info: -1
Solution
- Ensure you are using the latest driver
- Some devices (in particular the KP303) may require Third Party Compatibility enabled in the KASA/Tapo App. More information is provided by TP-Link
- After enabling Third Party Compatibility, if it still doesn't work, you may need to delete the created KLAP Device, Add the V2 Outlet/light, Use select Device from list (if using Agent). If not using Agent, set the IP Address, and optionally, the MAC Address (if its available.
