GUIDE: How to give Chowmain remote access to a Control4 System

This procedure provides our Chowmainsoft Marketplace support staff with the ability to remotely log into the Control4 system for remote testing/troubleshooting.

Requirements

  1. Control4 3.0.0 or later,
  2. Remote support is allowed on the account

How to Setup

  1. Log into your dealer account via http://my.control4.com
  2. Select account administration from the left menu
  3. Select Users in the top menu

  4. Select Add a New User

  5. Fill out the first name and last name as Chowmain and Support.  We require a unique email address to gain access.  Please utilize info+reference@chowmainsoft.com with reference being something unique (eg customer account name - info+johndoe@chowmainsoft.com)
  6. Create a password for the account and note it down
  7. Set permissions for the account.  Note everything should be ‘Deny’ apart from Remote support as ‘Allow’ 

  8. Tick Restrict user to individual accounts? and select the customer account you want us to provide support for. (If the system is registered to your dealer account, you can skip this step and let us know the account name)

  9. Click Save.

  10. Select Licenses from the left menu

  11. Select Composer Pro Licenses in the top menu

  12. Assign and Enable a Composer Pro License to the user created in step f and save.

  13. Email the following information to the Chowmain support person you are dealing with.
    1. Email address created above in step 5

    2. Password created above in step 5

    3. Customer Account selected in step 8

How to Remove Access

  1. Log back into http://my.control4.com
  2. Select account administration from the left menu

  3. Select Users in the top menu

  4. Select Remove next to the chowmain support account (eg info+reference@chowmainsoft.com)
