Control4 LIFX: V3 Agent Is Unable To Discover Lights

Control4 LIFX: V3 Agent Is Unable To Discover Lights

Problem

LIFX is unable to discover lights on network

Solution

This can be caused by a few issues
  1. The minimum version required for Control4 X4 (or later) is 20241111.  In X4, other versions will fail to load correctly
  2. Ensure you are using the latest version: https://chowmain.software/drivers/control4-lifx#revisions
  3. Discovery over VLAN's or multi-segment networks is not supported. VLAN's may require additional configuration for control (outside the scope of this configuration document)
  4. Discovery over networks which don't use a /24 subnet (255.255.255.0 subnet mask) is not supported. Manual setup of Light V3 is required
  5. Some Mesh network configurations may block UDP broadcasts (Orbi / Eero primarily). UDP broadcasts must be supported by the network to allow full control
  6. IGMP Snooping may block discovery packets. Turn off IGMP snooping temporarily for testing purposes
  7. Ensure no other third party developers have LIFX drivers installed on the C4 Controller. These may clash with the Chowmain Driver
  8. If discovery does not operate correctly, it is recommended to add Light V3 drivers, and set the IP Address manually (ensure that DHCP reservations are made for the lights)
