HOW TO: Update Control4 Drivers and Agents.

How to enable Automatic Updates

Automatic updates are crucial for maintaining the performance and security of Chowmain Control4 drivers. The Chowmain Project Agent is required and plays a key role in this process, providing seamless licensing and effortless driver updates.

To ensure automatic updates function correctly, the driver must retain its original filename and should not be renamed and the Chowmain Project Agent must be installed.

You can enable automatic updates for all Chowmainsoft drivers system-wide via the Chowmainsoft Agent by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to Agents
  2. Select Chowmain Agent
  3. Click on Actions
  4. Choose Enable All Driver Automatic Updates

Alternatively, to enable automatic updates for a specific driver across all its instances, follow these steps:

  1. Go to System Design
  2. Select an instance of the driver you wish to update automatically
  3. Locate the Automatic Updates box
  4. Change the value from Off to On and press Set

By enabling automatic updates, you ensure your drivers remain up to date with the latest features, improvements, and security enhancements.

How to manually update a driver

In certain situations, a manual driver update may be necessary instead of an automatic update. You can perform this update by following the steps outlined below.

  • Open the Driver menu.
  • Select Add or Update Driver or Agent.
  • Choose the driver(s) or agent(s) to update and click Open.
  • Confirm any prompts that appear by selecting OK or Yes.
