Control4 UniFi: Setup Unifi Doorbells

Control4 UniFi: Setup Unifi Doorbells

Integration of UniFi Protect Doorbells

UniFi Protect Doorbells such as the G4 Doorbell do not provide SIP access and cannot  directly integrate using the Intercom/2-way interface. UniFi Intercoms however do support the ability to make calls outgoing calls.

To set up Doorbells, you use events, and add them as cameras.
  1. Add The Doorbell as a camera using Protect
  2. In programming in Composer Pro you can utilise the Ringing Started / Stopped Events to trigger door bell sounds on your Audio system as required or / and send notifications to the user.

  3. Notifications provide deep links for the user to quickly access the doorbell camera. These can be triggered by events. To create these. In Agents > Push Notifications, create a new notification. Under attachment, select the Snapshot URL of the camera. When the notification is clicked, it will open the doorbell camera in the UniFi Protect app.

  4. If the system includes a UniFi Protect Viewport, you can utilise the Set View and Set Room To Viewport Temporarily actions to temporarily display the doorbell view on TV when the doorbell rings
  5. Various commands are provided to allow installers to create custom actions for the doorbell. These include:
    • Set Message: Set the message on the doorbell screen
    • Do Not Disturb: Set the doorbell to do not disturb mode
    • Leave Package: Set the doorbell to leave package mode
  6. Due to the inability to enable the two-way Intercom proxy to be used, our driver provides the ability for installers to create custom presets and settings instead which can be used to quickly perform traditional actions such as unlocking the door, changing the message on the screen or turning on lights. Or, presets/settings can be used to customise variables to change the behavior of the doorbell.
    • To do so, use Custom Presets in properties to create new custom presets.
    • Or, use the Settings Categories and Settings to create new custom settings. which can be accessed via the settings menu on the camera interface
